After the project Romunicare, the collaboration between Ares 2.0 and the CNR – Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche – in the field of local integration of Roma communities makes a step further. Indeed, Ares 2.0, together with CNR and Opera Nomadi, the municipality of Campobasso, a Greek (IASIS ) and a Bulgarian NGO (GPF) have just awarded a European funding for the Municipality4Roma project. It is a two-year project whose aim is to improve the relationship between public administrations and Roma communities, thus fostering integration, dialogue and use of basic social services. After the great success of Romunicare project, which will end in the coming months, Ares 2.0 continues to deal with the issue of integration and support for the most disadvantaged communities by making available to this new international partnership its decades-long experience in institutional communication.
Municipality4Roma will develop communication and training actions addressed to three relevant stakeholders: Roma community living in the territory of Campobasso, civil servants from the municipality, members of civil society and the school system. The project aims to provide concrete tools and a common language between public service operators and different users connected to the Roma community, in order to overcome mutual distrust and build a real collaboration between these two worlds.
Finally, activities to promote the project and support its replicability will be carried out in Bulgaria and Greece. This is a fundamental aspect as these activities provide an international framework to the project and guarantee a wider reproducibility of the intervention model to be built in the territory of Campobasso.
Municipality 4 Rome will be realized thanks to the resources made available by a call for proposal within the Rights, Equality and Citizenship program of DG Justice to which Ares 2.0, together with its partners, submitted in November a proposal that placed in the highest positions of the evaluation ranking
