Rome: on March 20, from 9.00 am, the project “Cycling through the Natura 2000 network – Sic2Sic”, funded by the Community Life program, will be presented at the headquarters of Spazio Europa of the European Commission and the European Parliament in IV Novembre Street, 149. Sic2Sic is project developed by Ares 2.0 in cooperation with the Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA), the Italian Federation of Bicycle Friends (FIAB) and the business incubator of the University of Eastern Piedmont – Enne3. The project aims to raise awareness among citizens, schools, firms and institutions on the significance and importance of the Natura 2000 network: a system of protected areas created by the European Union to guarantee the long-term maintenance of natural habitats and species at Community level.

The conference on 20 March will be an opportunity to present the project to a vast audience, giving information about the state of conservation and use of the Natura 2000 areas, the Life projects, the role of communication against climate change, the territorial dimension of sustainable development and on the bicycle as a tool for conscious use of protected areas. At the end of the meeting, a cycling tour is scheduled to promote and learn about the biodiversity kept in the Natura 2000 site in Rome, consisting of Villa Borghese and Villa Pamphili.
